US Intern reflects on their time with Inkululeko

Hello everyone! I’m Vasillius Klint, originally from Baldwinsville and currently residing in Syracuse.

Since June 2023, I've had the privilege of being a part of the Inkululeko team and this journey has been incredibly enriching, introducing me to new experiences and skill sets that I'm excited to carry forward into my future career. Admittedly, I had a rocky start, and it took time to fully comprehend the profound purpose behind our work, and its execution. Once I fully grasped it, however, things fell into place.

Over time,  I’ve had the opportunity to both contribute to and benefit from a collaborative environment that nurtured my growth. This involved developing and refining my grant writing abilities,  engaging in website editing, crafting lesson plans for the remote learning program. I owe much of my development to the steadfast support of my colleagues. Without them, I would not be where I am today.

Reflecting on my journey, I recognize the multitude of skills I've acquired during my time at Inkululeko. I've honed my efficiency in using tools like Google Docs and Microsoft 365 within a team setting. Additionally, such as how to more efficiently use applications such as Google Docs and Microsoft 365 as a team. I also learned how different steps of the grant process look, and how to use different writing styles and languages as they apply in the grant-writing sphere.

Giving to a community has instilled a sense of accomplishment within me. It’s a feeling of my effort contributing to something greater, where my efforts hold significance in the grand scheme of things. Knowing that I’m positively shaping the lives of youth, and providing them equitable opportunities inspires me to keep going. Parting with Inkululeko, I carry with me an ignited passion to continue improving the lives of those in need.
