Inkululeko Internship

Leadership, Mentorship, and Dedication

This is a global (and remote!) internship that accepts primarily university students as volunteers. However, we also accept those not currently in school. We are looking for motivated people who are willing to learn, be curious and dedicate themselves to supporting our mission from their corner of the world.

Why join us?

Are you interested in meeting new peers from universities across the US and other parts of the world, and learn about the South African culture?

Then keep reading.

In this internship you will receive feedback from your mentor and peers about projects you work with us to co-create.

You will learn to collaborate, communicate, and learn the skills necessary to build you up as professional. If interested, you could also become a tutor for our remote tutoring program as well which supports hundreds of students in Makhanda.

You may also have the opportunity to engage with our south African colleagues and learners.

This can be a great addition to your resume and make it more outstanding as this is a global internship!

Our Goal:

We want to support our leaners with their education and get them into universities, and help them learn the skills necessary to enter a 21st century workforce. With Inkululeko, interns do make a massive difference! Our goal is to co-create valuable content together. You will work with our South African colleagues and our US based team to continue to build our organization.

Previous Projects by Former Interns

Interns are not obligated to do a project if they are not comfortable doing it, but we do highly encourage you to try a project that you haven’t done before, it can help you gain a new skills and new experience. Remember you will not be alone as you will have guidance from your mentor and your peers. This can be a collaborative work as well. You are also welcome to come up with any projects you have in mind that you feel can be beneficial to Inkululeko.

There are one of the main projects you can do as follows but there are so much more as well!

Web Development

Interns have the chance to add, edit, and update our website. Our Intern Aurelio Soto from Bloomfield College, New Jersey added a page that talks about the Remote Learning Page and uploaded video lessons made by US tutors to the page. This helped hundreds of learners to access these lessons online at anytime and any where when there is WIFI available.

Annual Report Design

Designed by our intern Brady Spaulding from Ithaca College, New York. If you are into art and like to make graphics then this can be a project for you to do! Interns are open to create posters, flyers, comic strips, and other creative works!

Applying Grants

If you like to write and edit, then applying for a grant application can be suitable for you. Our best grant application was written by our intern Gwynneth O’Donnell from Marist College, New York.
